22 years with St. John Ambulance. The Samaritans. Cornerhouse (Sexual Health & Drugs Charity), Hull LGBT Forum Ltd.

Your best experience whilst volunteering for Manchester Pride?
Entertaining the crowds in Sackville Park with my bubble sword but being able to do so many and varied things. To help others enjoy the event.

How did you hear about Manchester Pride?
When I came out in 2002 and when I attended Europride 2003

How has volunteering benefited your personal development?
I had a traumatic time coming to terms with being gay. It was a fast track way of discovering and liking the new me.

How has volunteering benefited your professional development?
It shows commitment and dedication. It’s not a bad thing to have on your CV.

Would you recommend volunteering for Manchester Pride?
Being at Pride is an amazing experience but being involved as a volunteer is so much better. It’s like having a special reason to be there. Yes!!

Best Pride moment?
Being asked if my 21st Century Kilt was a Vivienne Westwood… please!
